Nick is a Clinical Psychologist, Board-Approved Supervisor and Co-Director of Optimind EMDR & Psychology, with over 8 years experience as a registered psychologist. Much of his career has been spent across rural and remote Australia, including with the Royal Flying Doctor Service and in First Nations communities. His work focuses on adults who have experienced trauma, complex trauma and attachment-related difficulties, alongside neurodivergent adults seeking a deeper understanding of themselves. Nick is especially drawn to intensive formats that help people achieve meaningful change in a shorter, more focused period, making his approach a strong fit for busy professionals and high performers who want real results without putting the rest of their life on hold.
Nick's training spans CBT, ACT, schema therapy and relational psychodynamic psychotherapy, but was drawn to EMDR for the way it empowers the client and connects the mind and body. He has since pursued extensive advanced training across a range of EMDR protocols. Alongside therapy, he has completed more than 300 psychological assessments and diagnostic reports for both children and adults across Australia, including neurodevelopmental assessments for ADHD and Autism. He enjoys the intellectual stimulation of more complex cases, where the diagnostic picture is less clear. You can explore his full experience, training and qualifications here. This depth of experience, paired with a genuinely trauma-informed approach, is why Nick is regularly sought out by third parties for his clinical opinion and assessment skills. He was appointed consultant psychologist for Ngak Min Health in North Queensland where he has assisted in the early detection of neurodevelopmental and trauma presentations in First Nations young people. You can read more about this important work here.
Outside the clinic, Nick serves as a Board Director of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association and can usually be found training for his next triathlon, or listening to a podcast with a coffee in hand walking the coastline.
