Jed Van Den Bergh

Clinical Psychologist | Board-Approved Supervisor | Co-Director

Jed is a Clinical Psychologist and Co-Director of Optimind Psychology with over fifteen years of experience across child protection, disability, and mental health services. He works with adolescents and adults experiencing trauma, including complex trauma, attachment difficulties, and PTSD. He also provides neuroaffirming therapy for autistic, ADHD, and other neurodivergent clients.

Jed has a particular interest in supporting autistic and ADHD women, helping them understand the impact of masking, camouflaging, sensory sensitivities, burnout, and the challenges of navigating environments that may not fit their needs. His approach focuses on self-understanding, self-acceptance, and practical strategies that work with each person's unique strengths and nervous system.

Trained in EMDR, ACT, Trauma-Focused CBT, Developmental Dyadic Psychotherapy, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Jed tailors therapy to the individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. He is particularly experienced in adapting EMDR for clients who have previously found therapy difficult, felt stuck in treatment, or had limited success with EMDR in the past.

Many clients are drawn to Jed's approach because meaningful trauma processing can occur without needing to repeatedly retell painful experiences in detail. He also brings extensive assessment experience, having completed more than 150 assessments and diagnostic reports for children and adults from diverse backgrounds.

Outside of work, you'll usually find him hiking, spending time in nature, and enjoying time with family and friends.

  • Are autistic, ADHD, or identify as neurodivergent and want a neuroaffirming approach

  • Have spent years masking, camouflaging, or feeling misunderstood

  • Experience sensory sensitivities, overwhelm, burnout, or chronic exhaustion

  • Are interested in EMDR, including if previous therapy or EMDR has not worked as hoped
