Intensive EMDR is a focused approach to therapy designed to help process and heal difficult experiences from the past that may be still impacting you today.
Rather than attending therapy for one hour each week over many months, intensive EMDR brings multiple sessions together over 1 to 3 weeks. This allows you to maintain momentum, go deeper with less interruption, and help create meaningful change in a shorter timeframe.
It's the same evidence-based EMDR approach, delivered in a more focused format.
Intensive Eye-movement Desensitisation Reprocessing or EMDR provides extended therapy sessions over consecutive days, allowing for deeper and more focused trauma processing than standard weekly therapy.

Individual therapy costs:
Clinical Psychologist: $250 per 50 minute session.
Provisional Psychologist: $100 per 50 minute session.
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and a referral from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $145.25 per session with a Clinical Psychologist, which will be processed or claimed back after the appointment. Rebates are available for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year under the Better Access scheme. After paying the full fee, we will submit your claim to Medicare for the rebate which usually appears same or next day. Medicare rebates are not available with Provisional Psychologists.
You do not need a referral to book privately.
If you would like to access Medicare rebates, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP. Referrals are typically valid for an initial 6 sessions, with a GP review required to access a further 4 rebated sessions, totalling 10 sessions per calendar year.
Intensive EMDR involves longer or consecutive therapy sessions delivered over a shorter period of time, allowing focused trauma processing without the stop-start nature of weekly or fortnightly therapy.
During EMDR sessions, you'll be guided to briefly focus on specific memories while using bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements), allowing your brain to process and reduce the emotional intensity of those experiences.
It provides structured, contained time to work through specific trauma targets more efficiently.
Intensive EMDR sessions are longer than standard therapy sessions and are scheduled individually based on your needs and treatment plan.
These typically involve 90-120 minute sessions daily over a 1 or 2 week period.
Yes. If you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHCP), you can use your Medicare rebate for EMDR sessions.
Medicare rebates apply once per calendar day, even if the session is longer than a standard 50-60 minute appointment. This means you can claim one rebate per day of treatment.
Medicare rebates are not typically available for standard psychological assessments. However, rebates may be available for certain neuro-developmental assessments (e.g. Autism or ADHD) for individuals under 25 when referred by a paediatrician or psychiatrist under specific Medicare item numbers.
To understand whether Medicare rebates apply in your situation, we recommend reviewing the official government FAQ.
Weekly therapy allows gradual progress over time, whereas Intensive EMDR creates extended therapeutic space to focus deeply on specific trauma targets in a shorter timeframe.
Both approaches are effective. The right format depends on your goals, readiness, and availability.
No. Psychologists are not able to prescribe medication. If medication is appropriate, we can work alongside your GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist who can assess and prescribe as part of your care.
We are not currently NDIS registered providers. However, if you have self-managed or plan-managed funding, you may be able to access services with us at the recommended rate for psychology. We recommend confirming details with your plan manager beforehand.
Yes, Telehealth is available for individual therapy and some diagnostic assessment services.
Intensive EMDR is also available via Telehealth depending on preference, suitability, and safety considerations which will be discussed during intake with your treating psychologist.
That's completely okay.
We can discuss your goals, current challenges, and preferences to determine whether individual therapy, an EMDR intensive, or a diagnostic assessment is the most appropriate starting point.

We are committed to creating a practice that is inclusive, affirming, and culturally responsive. We welcome people of all genders, sexualities, cultures, bodies, abilities, and neurotypes, and strive to provide care that is respectful, safe, and free from discrimination.
